Videography
Since high school Michael Campbell has worked with digital film, most recently he created several works for his "Visual Story" class and for Academic Technology at the University of Florida
Visual Story
The Visual Story course combines the traditional notions of a film course – how to use the visual language from film – with the emerging notions of how interactivity changes the way we communicate with an audience. Below is some of Michael's work that he did with Goutham Dindukurthi and Chongho Lee.
Intro Video
Each team will shoot a short, (1 minutes tops), promotional on your team. The objective
is to show off your team’s talent in a creative way.
30 Second Commercial
Make a 30 second commercial for a product of your own choosing.
Object, Theme, Location
The team will choose at random from a selection of several different scenarios. The team will be provided a location, a theme, an object and a dominate color scheme. For example a team may choose the following scenario: “A car is the location, arrogance is the theme. A necklace is an object that plays a part in the story. Red is the dominate color.”
Music Video
Develop, plan and shoot a music video. Must tell a story that is not explicitly in the lyrics. The idea is to follow a storyline through time and space. Use all the elements of visual grammar and work at building in elements from the lectures such as contrasting flat with deep space, limited space with ambiguous space, color, line and shape, movement, etc. You must shoot this video at another location.
2008 UF Dance Festival
This project focused on capturing the movements of the UF Dance Team. These videos are part of an ongoing project, for Academic Technology, to place the undergraduate Dance Appreciation class, completely online. Michael's part consists of coordinating filming, editing, and rendering the files for web delivery.
